A comparison in the behaviors of police in Pakistan

Two years ago I made the detailed visit of Abbotabad city and its surroundings for my BS hons project. my project was about the rocks of the area especially creating a geological map and marking of potential faults. this journey was accompanied by detailed visits of various cliffs, mountains and streams of the area including the distance from Miranjani Peak to Dotar Dali cliffs near Abbotabad city. This journey was not possible without the support of local people. Apart from my personal work it was also a great opportunity to witness the  behavior of local police under the government of PTI in KPK. in the start we were looking for a suitable place to make the base camp for my journey. it felt like a difficult task regarding the fact that i was a stranger in the area. so i just asked a shop keeper if he can guide me for my residence. He was very friendly and he he made every thing really for me from the residential arrangements to other affairs.

On my first night at the hotel the local police SHO visited us for general information. He was really friendly person and expressed great support and gave valuable information for my tour timings. I spent three weeks walking in the jungles and mountains of the the area but never was bothered by any local irritation. The police visited me at various occasions and always asked for help. after three weeks I returned back to my hometown. I went through little series of police incidents currently hot in my town. I realized that same was not happening in KPK. I felt a kind of change in the behaviors of police men in KPK. Well the reason was obvious as we hear through the media. What's happening here is the biased behavior of police in various public incidents. They openly show that they are useless against the powerful of the area. they are useless against the spread of drugs in the area. The situation here is pretty much alarming for the public and ruling elite as well.

  Police is harassing people through unjust traffic fines, providing cover to drug dealers, giving shadow support to criminals through sick deals and helping criminals through faulty prosecution. The Police of Azad Kashmir needs real filter operation to start its proper functioning.I have been recently in central  Punjab where a medically unfit person claimed that he is the "Razakaar" of Punjab Police insisting that there are many others like him. He worked with our construction company as driver. He told me that he seldom goes on his duty and there are many others who are on the same pattern. According to him he was paid by Punjab government for doing almost nothing. I felt bad for the people of the area. On the basis of my personal experience I realized the AJK police and Punjab Police was on the same kind of work pattern.I felt a change in KPK Police, a positive change. i hope that the other units can learn a thing or two from the transformation in KPK Police and start planning to serve the tax payer public of the country instead of serving the elite of our country.
