The Muslims by birth and the Muslims by choice

I am not feeling really comfortable while writing this stuff but I think it is our responsibility to spread the truth. So what comes in your mind when hear two words, “the Muslim by birth” and the “Muslim by choice”. Initially both words are a bit heart worming but it gets a bit scary when you start thinking about it. Well if you are the Muslim by birth then you are really blessed one and off course the owner of the great legacy and the good thing is you are always ready to share it with others specially the newcomers. Now keeping in mind the current era of technology where the whole world is like a global village where almost everything is used against us. At the same time everyone has the access to every kind of ethical and historical data regardless of its credibility. The current situation is currently rough for the Muslims but in a way it is self-created. The obvious reason is the space between the modern Muslim community and the spiritual teachings. In a general conception a Muslim who is born in a Muslim family is rather careless about learning things about the religion and stays with the basics only. This happens because he never have to defend himself as he leaves this task to the clerics only. Such people think they are born in a Muslim family so they do not have to learn the Islam. The result is very less or infected data base about the religion. This is the root of so many social and ethical issues we are facing right now. These problems need to be addressed instantly. It is great to be a Muslim by birth but it will be awesome to be a Muslim by practice.

          Now I will discuss the second class of Muslims which are relatively young but promising. These people are not born Muslims but they choose to be the Muslims using their intellectual abilities and critical thinking. So they are proud Muslims by choice and we are proud of them too. Have you ever wondered why people are converting to Islam despite our disturbing conditions like injustice, exploitation, corruption and many others which are rooming in countries like Pakistan where the major population is Muslim by birth.

Now we will consider some interesting recent stats which are:

In USA average 20,000 people convert to Islam yearly.

In UK 5100, France 4000-7000 and Germany 5000 people are converting to the religion of peace.

The number is lot bigger when we consider it globally. There are 100,000 people who are converting toward Islam annually. These are rough estimates for years 2000-2016 and the numbers are increasing permanently. Guess what they are not converting to Islam because of our actions because unfortunately we don’t do anything like that. They do it on the basis of their critical studies and researches. This is something which is currently missing in Muslims by birth or they are hesitating in conveying the true findings. The result of these issues is the global conflict chain we are struck in. Due to the lack of resarch 99 % of our people don’t have the ability to convince someone. At the same time just imagine the one who establishes the foundations of his belief on the research and critical thinking and great understanding. I’m saying this because it takes something to change your belief and that is not easy thing to do. On the other hand there is a person who believes that he is the Muslim because he was born a Muslim having no insight into Islam. Isn’t it shameful to be at such a stage? The great poet Iqbal stressed upon the fact that the ultimate reason behind the downfall of Muslims is the lack of attachment with the spiritual teachings. The need of the hour is to spread the correct the right things about Islam. We need to work on the improvement of the intellectual levels of our individuals so they can think and consider things on a whole new level. That mean they should start thinking as a responsible Muslim and not a group. One thing is sure that the Muslims have great future as the signs are evident but we need to improve ourselves to achieve our goals. We should think about it how hard it is to be convert yourself into a Muslim being with so much mess and hate going around? How hard it is to be a Muslim by choice in the hostile world? The history is loaded with such examples from the beginning of Islam till present times. If you really want to know you should check out internet and believe me you will get shocked. Let’s develop ourselves to the level where we can be more useful and helpful for these people. Ameen
