THE SOCIAL, ELECTRONIC MEDIA AND OUR YOUTH TRENDS

It’s been a quarter year I am working on my current position now. There is not much to do in the labs so I decide to do something additional to materialize the additional time. There are many things to try but it is difficult to decide. At my age your head is filled with so much bullshit and all you want is to get rid of this stuff. My plane is also the same so I want to make it somehow productive. Finally I am deciding to write down my personal experiences of my student period.
In the present era of technology we are supposed to be the part of social media and regular viewers of electronic media. I always had a feeling that apart from the positives of social and electronic media which we always appreciate so much there is also a darker side which we seem to ignore every time at least during our teen ages. A few days later I was watching a sports analysis show in which a former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds said pointing toward his cell phone, “this thing has totally destroyed the social and moral values”. At the same time Sir Curtly Ambrose said that the life was so simple and peaceful without call phones. I quoted these recent examples because this has nothing to do with the nationality or religion because the social media and electronic media has no religion. It is going to affect you all badly if you are overusing or misusing it. It not only hurts but it is also alarming to know that where our youth stands right now.

Have you ever wondered why a mobile phone is also called a cell phone?  Because it’s a trap or a jail’s cell which traps you and your brain harnessing your mental abilities. I would like to mention a few facts about the excessive use of the social and electronic media:
It was concluded in a survey that an average teen spends 9-12 hours every day on his cell phone. (News by CNN in 2015)
What is more alarming to know that (The Mail Online) quotes that average person spends more time on the social media and electronic media than sleeping. Now I will try to conclude the major problems created by these trends:

1-Overuse of electronic media
It causes sleeping disorders, mental health effects, poor eating habits behavioral dysfunctions and many other issues.
2- The overuse of social media results in:
Lack of focus on work.
Lack of privacy.
The users are vulnerable to crime.
Social detriments.
Circulation of misinformation and more importantly,
The waste of precious time.
On reading above mentioned facts I hope you will have an idea how this is damaging your character and integrity. The need of the hour is to promote the awareness about the use of mobile phones, social and electronic media because surely we can’t stop the use of technology but we need to find and spread the right way of using it keeping the moral and social values in mind. I have seen many intelligent people who destroyed their carriers owing to overuse and misuse of technology. I have special advice for the teen age people around the globe that you should be extremely careful about the threats and don’t be so judgmental about what’s good and bad and leave it for elders. I also suggest that all the educational institutions should arrange awareness programs to teach the youth how these thing are damaging their identity because it can be the faster way of restoring the social and moral values. I hope young people will try to limit the use of the things and shortly I will come back trying to explain that how the electronic media is damaging us. Until then take care of yourself and your youth.
With lots of prayers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
